TIME EXTENSION FOR UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE BENEFITS SIGNED INTO LAW

Jefferson City, MO – The U.S. Congress passed and the President signed legislation this week that extends the time deadline for Temporary Extended Unemployment Compensation (TEUC).  The law extends the TEUC Act of 2002 by seven months.  The eligibility period for filing TEUC claims now ends December 31, 2003, and the legislation provides a gradual phase out of the program.

The legislation passed this week only extends the filing time of TEUC claims from May 30, 2003 to December 31, 2003, it does not provide any additional benefits.
