Independent Contractors Covered by Missouri Prevailing Wage Law

Based on a Missouri Southern District Court of Appeals decision (Brandon Laszewski v. R.L. Persons Construction, Inc.), anyone performing work on a public works project, not just employees, is covered by the Missouri Prevailing Wage Law (PWL). The Southern District’s decision indicates that all “workmen” on a public works project, regardless of employee/independent contractor status, are covered by the Missouri Prevailing Wage Law.
