Prevailing Wage

GENERAL WAGE ORDER NO. 53 HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE AND IS AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW. GENERAL WAGE ORDER NO. 52 REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL GENERAL WAGE ORDER NO. 53 BECOMES FINAL.
According to Section 290.260 RSMo 2000, within thirty (30) days after a certified copy of this GWO has been filed with the Secretary of State, any person who may be affected by the GWO may object by filing an objection in triplicate with the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission, PO Box 599, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0599. Objections must state the specific grounds in writing. Each objection must certify that a copy has been furnished to the Division of Labor Standards, PO Box 449, Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0449. Missouri's Prevailing Wage Law establishes a minimum wage rate that must be paid to workers on public works construction projects in Missouri, such as bridges, roads and government buildings. The prevailing wage rate differs by county and for different types of work. The Division of Labor Standards provides prevailing wage rates to public bodies each year in an Annual Wage Order, and to the Missouri State Highway and Transportation Commission in the form of the General Wage Order.

Contractors, public bodies and others submit wage information on wage survey forms to the Division. The information includes actual hours worked on commercial or heavy and highway projects in Missouri. The Occupational Title (classification) of workers must be identified. The highest number of survey hours received for an hourly wage rate paid is the prevailing wage rate for each individual Occupational Title in each county.

Workers on public works projects must be paid at least prevailing wage for the type of work they perform. The Missouri Code of State Regulations Chapter 3, 8 CSR 30-3.060 lists Occupational Titles for different types of tasks in the construction of a public works project in Missouri.
