Regional Emphasis Programs Amputations This LEP is to target workplaces with machines that cause (or are capable of causing) amputations and workplaces where amputations have occurred. Inspections must concentrate on industries and establishments where saws, shears, slicers, and power presses are used and where there have been amputations involving these types of machines. This LEP will focus on the following industries: 1910.212 All Machines
1910.213 Woodworking Machinery
1910.217 Power Presses
Falls, Scaffolds and Electrocutions from Overhead Power Lines This LEP will focus on active construction sites where fall hazards and/or overhead power lines and/or scaffolds in use are observed. Kansas City Area Office Telecommunications Installations This LEP will focus on active installation of new telecommunication service on utility poles used for support of, and containing, overhead power lines. St. Louis Area Office Maritime This LEP applies to employers who are classified with a primary or secondary Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code of 3731, 4440 through 4449 or 4490 through 4499 and are involved in maritime activities. For purposes of this LEP, maritime activities include the operations listed below. A location where one or more of these operations occur will be considered a port area.
Powered Industrial Trucks This LEP will focus on all complaints alleging conditions that may be violations of the powered industrial truck standard (29 C.F.R. §1910.178). Communication Tower Worksites This LEP will focus on all phases of tower erection activities, including demolition of existing structures, site preparation (including safe distance signage), fall protection, erection of steel tower components and related tower activities as well as maintenance of existing towers. General Industry standards will cover maintenance activities at tower sites. If appropriate, a safety compliance officer will make a referral to an industrial hygienist for health hazards, including but not limited to, Radio-Frequency (RF) radiation hazards and exposures. Auto Body Shops This LEP will be selected from employers utilizing the SIC code of 7532 for any operation at their establishment. |
