Wages and Workplace Standards

The Wage and Hour Section of the Division of Labor Standards provides Missouri employers and employees with information about general workplace issues like wages, work hours, dismissal rights and minimum wage in accordance with Chapter 290 RSMo.

This section also provides assistance, regulation and investigation of child labor law compliance under Chapter 294 RSMo. Working together with employers, school superintendents and public interest groups, the Division gives Missourians information regarding working children's rights and employers' responsibilities under these laws.

In addition, the Wage and Hour section provides assistance, regulation and investigation of prevailing wage and minimum wage law compliance under Chapter 290 RSMo. The Division's increased efforts at outreach and education of public bodies, contractors, workers and their representatives have resulted in increased voluntary compliance with the law. The Division's field staff also investigates complaints and assists in the process of settlement of violations
