Administrative Law Judge Suzette Carlisle Receives Missouri Bar Honor

Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is pleased to announce that Suzette Carlisle, administrative law judge with the Division of Workers’ Compensation, today will receive the Missouri Bar Association Presidential Award during the Bar’s annual meeting in Springfield, Mo.  C. Ronald Baird, president of the Missouri Bar, will present Carlisle with the award.

The Presidential Award was established in 1965 to honor those Missouri attorneys who have provided outstanding service to the Missouri Bar during the previous year. Carlisle is receiving the honor for her contributions to the “work of the administration of justice” through work with the Bar’s Leadership Academy, Annual Meeting and the Workers’ Compensation Committee.

“This is a great honor for Judge Carlisle. She is an outstanding example of the hard work and dedication that is put forth daily by employees of the Division of Workers’ Compensation,” said Jeff Buker, director of the Division.

Previously, Carlisle worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services for 15 years. She earned her law degree and Certificate in Employment Law from St. Louis University. She began her legal career as a criminal defense attorney and later became an assistant circuit attorney. In 1998, Carlisle was appointed as a legal advisor for the Division of Workers’ Compensation’s St. Louis office. She was appointed to serve as an administrative law judge in 2005.

Carlisle earned certificates in Judicial Development and Dispute Resolution for Administrative Law Judges from the National Judicial College. She has been accepted into the Masters’ in Judicial Studies Program at the University of Nevada—Reno.

She has been active in local activities including Mentor St. Louis, Focus St. Louis Class of 2005-06, Mound City Bar, Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL), and The Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis.
