INTERNET OPTION FOR FILING OF QUARTERLY CONTRIBUTION AND WAGE REPORTS COMING SOON

Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, in collaboration with the Office of Administration, awarded the contract for the Internet Contribution and Wage Report tax system to CIBER, Inc.  For over a year, the Department has been working to develop an Internet option for employers to file their contribution wage reports and/or make payments of contributions.  This system will also offer employers the ability to submit account changes online and make available a wide variety of additional services.    Missouri is among the first 10 states to offer Internet filing of contribution and wage reports.

Four times a year over 128,000 employers submit employee wage earnings information and/or contribution payments to the Department’s Division of Employment Security.  Currently, employers have the option of mailing their reports or submitting the information through magnetic media (disk, reel-to-reel, cartridge).  The filing of contribution and wage reports via the Internet will give employers another option when filing mandatory employee information.  “The new Internet option will provide employers with a faster, easier and more convenient means to file contribution and wage reports and payments,” said Catherine B. Leapheart, director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Over the next twelve months, the Department will be working with CIBER, Inc. to develop an easy and convenient method for employers to file contribution wage reports and payments of contributions via the Internet as well as   providing further services to employers.  The Internet option is scheduled to be available to all employers in Spring 2004.
