Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Division of Workers’ Compensation today announced the selection of Ed Kohner of Kirkwood as the new Chief Administrative Law Judge in St. Louis. Judge Kohner has served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Division of Workers’ Compensation in St. Louis since 1991. He previously served as Chief Administrative Law Judge in St. Louis from 1992 to 1993. Kohner is a graduate of Washington University College of the Arts and Sciences and Washington University School of Law. After graduating law school, Kohner became Staff Legal Counsel for the Missouri Division of Insurance where he performed legal actions pertaining to insolvent insurance entities. He worked in various private law firms before serving on the Missouri Campaign Finance Review Board from 1986 to 1991. Kohner is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Army Reserves. He served in various command and staff positions during his service from 1970 to 2002.
“On behalf of the Division, I’d like to thank Judge Schwendemann for her contributions to the St. Louis office for the past 11 years,” said Pat Secrest, director of the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation. “We at the Division look forward to working with Judge Kohner in his new position as Chief Administrative Law Judge in St. Louis as we meet the complex challenges of implementing the new workers’ compensation law.”
