JUNE 6 IS DEADLINE FOR FILING OF DISASTER UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS FOR 39 COUNTIES

Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations announces today that the deadline for filing claims for disaster unemployment assistance as a result of severe storms on May 4, 2003 in Barry, Barton, Bates, Benton, Buchanan, Camden, Cass, Cedar, Christian, Clay, Clinton, Cooper, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Henry, Hickory, Jackson, Jasper, Johnson, Laclede, Lafayette, Lawrence, McDonald, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Pettis, Platte, Polk, Pulaski, Ray, Saline, St. Clair, Stone, Taney, Vernon and Webster counties is June 6, 2003.

Disaster unemployment benefits are available in counties that have been declared as natural disaster areas and announced as eligible for individual assistance.  Persons living or working in these areas who became unemployed as a direct result of the severe storms that occurred on May 4, 2003, may be eligible for disaster unemployment benefits.  Individuals needing information about how to file a claim should call (800) 788-4002.

The deadline for filing disaster unemployment assistance claims for Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Franklin, Jefferson, Perry, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, St. Louis, Scott, Stoddard and Washington counties is June 11, 2003.

The deadline for filing disaster unemployment assistance claims for Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Chariton, Clark, Cole, Howard, Knox, Lewis, Lincoln, Marion, Moniteau, Montgomery, Osage, Pike, Ralls, Randolph and Shelby counties is June 18, 2003.
