MISSOURI
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
KLIETHERMES RECIPIENT OF "MISSOURI IT RECOGNITION AWARD"
Jefferson City, MO –
Bonnie Kliethermes, business project manager for
the Unemployment State Tax Automated Reporting System (USTAR) within the
Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Division of Employment
Security, is the recipient of the “Missouri IT Recognition Award”.
The award is given to recognize technical and non-technical individuals
who have shown initiative, creative thinking, and/or extraordinary effort
by participating in an IT initiative that has resulted in a positive impact
and significant value to an agency and/or the state.
According to Catherine Leapheart, Director for the
Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, “Bonnie Kliethermes
is truly deserving of this award. Due to Ms. Kliethermes’ knowledge
of the Department, her willingness to deal with diverse groups and disciplines,
and her strong work ethic, this Internet application will provide the citizens
and employers of the State of Missouri the opportunity to improve their
productivity. Bonnie has gone above and beyond to make this project
a success.” Upon accepting the award Ms Kliethermes noted “that the
success of the project is due to the work of many people, not just myself.”
USTAR is a new computer-based system that enables
employers to register, file reports, upload file transfers and submit payments
to the Division of Employment Security through the Internet. Approximately
500 Missouri employers participated in a pilot project for the new system
in July and a larger pilot project was conducted in October. It is
anticipated that the system will be available for all employers in the
state on January 2, 2005.
