Worker Safety Partnership Shows Commitment to Reduce Workplace Accidents
Springfield Home Builders Assoc., OSHA and Missouri On-Site Safety Program Sign Agreement
Jefferson City – The Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield (HBAGS), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program recently formed a partnership to reduce workplace injuries and promote safe and healthy working conditions in the residential construction industry.
HBAGS, OSHA and the On-site Safety Program finalized the partnership at a ceremony held last month in Springfield. “The goal of the partnership is to reduce the number and severity of injuries, illnesses and fatalities,” said Robert Simmons, program manager for the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program. “This coalition addresses a mutual goal of protecting the hard working men and women in the residential construction industry.”
HBAGS members will be offered specific safety training on residential construction topics. These contractors will also be eligible for priority visits from the Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program to assist them in finding and removing hazards at the worksite and thereby reducing injuries. In addition, the partnership will provide incentives to participating member/employers who voluntarily improve their safety and health performance and implement an effective safety and health program.
The Missouri On-Site Safety and Health Consultation Program provides a no-cost, confidential service that helps Missouri employers comply with federal OSHA regulations. Since the program is confidential, OSHA will not be notified of an employer’s participation in the program.
