Missouri Workers’ Compensation Program Promotes E-Government

Jefferson City, MOFollowing Governor Blunt’s philosophy to use technology to improve government services, the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations’ Division of Workers’ Compensation is promoting its online method to send docket notices.  Electronic Data Distribution is a fast and efficient way of sending docket notices to parties involved in a workers’ compensation injury case.

“This online process offers employers, insurers, attorneys and other interested parties a faster and more effective method to receive important information regarding their workers’ compensation hearing,” said Rod Chapel, director of the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.  “It’s a no cost service that could save the Division of Workers’ Compensation $186,000 annually in paper and distribution costs.”

Anyone interested in using Electronic Data Distribution should visit http://www.dolir.mo.gov/wc/forms/FormEDD.htm, complete the Electronic Data Correspondence form and e-mail the form to the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation at workerscomp@dolir.mo.gov.

The Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation also provides insurance companies, self-insured employers and third party administrators the option to file a First Report of Injury (Form 1’s) through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).  EDI is the computer-to-computer exchange of information from one computer application to another by electronic means.  EDI provides parties with a cost-effective and more consistent method of communicating workplace injury information with the Division of Workers’ Compensation.  Currently, 94 percent of First Reports of Injury are submitted through EDI.

If you would like to learn more about the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation’s electronic filing methods, please visit www.dolir.mo.gov/wc or call Lyn Williams at (573) 526-4943.
