Professional Employee Decisions
The State Board of Mediation uses this summary of the essentials of professional status as established by the National Labor Relations Board, Section 2 (12):
- Varied, intellectual work;
- Consistent exercise of discretion or judgment;
- Work non-standardizable in terms of time;
- Study in a specialized discipline ordinarily taught in a university or a hospital;
- Work done in preparation for a professional career, under a professional person, by one who has completed the courses of specialized study mentioned above.
